Excitement, Fun As Bobby’s Transport Hosts Maiden Lagoon Cruise In Ikorodu

Tourism development in Ikorodu and Lagos State, took another major leap forward as Bobby’s Transport Service Limited, a ferry operator, successfully staged its maiden Lagoon cruise with tourists on board.

The expedition, which business executives, professionals and socialites partook in, was tagged, ‘Olawunmi’s Boat Cruise’, and took place on Saturday, September 10, 2022.

It was fun at the shore of the Metro Ferry, Ebute – Iga, the takeoff point, as members of the cruise arrived in batches to a party – like atmosphere.

The first point of call after taking – off, was the Ferry Terminal Ikorodu, where tourists on board spent some quality time and also picked other members of the cruise before journeying into the lagoon.

It was an opportunity for the tourists on the boat to unwind and relax with friends.

There was a non-stop entertainment by Deejay and hypeman, as cruise members had a great time listening to good music with dance steps accompanying the music.

Mr Femi Odulaja, Chief Executive Officer, Bobby’s Transport Service Limited (BTSL), who owns the Bobby’s Hotel and Suite, Ebute – Iga, speaking with THE IMPACT Reporter – in – Chief, Kunle Adelabu who was part of the cruise, said that the idea is to maximize the usage of water and create a relaxation atmosphere for residents.

“The idea is just to create fun on the waterways and develop the tourism industry in Lagos and the country at large. It’s all about creating that ambience for people to relax and reset after all the hustling and bustling”, he said.

“What we are trying to do is rest, relax and reset our system ahead of the next working week. We really need it, not to die anyhow. I cannot come and kill myself.

“Ikorodu is surrounded by water. It’s an island on its own. We have many areas where we have water: Ebute, Bayeku, Offin, Majidun, Ijede and others; and the water transportation is exploding in Ikorodu”.

It was awesome experience for many of the tourists on the Olawunmi Boat Cruise last weekend in Ikorodu.

He assured those interested in water cruise and relaxation, that there are still more fun to be experienced on the lagoon.

“We are still bringing jet skis. I can assure you that we are going to explore the Lagos lagoon”, he said.

Mr Zack, Manager, Ikorodu Ferry Terminal, Ipakdo, who is one of the initiators of the cruise, said that the successful cruise is just the starting point as more fun atmosphere will be created in subsequent trips.

“We have been doing our marketing underground to sustain the initiative. This is just the start. By the time it fully materialized, you will see that we have choice of relaxation in Ikorodu”.

Dr S.T,B. Adams, who is a Senior Evangelist, also speaking with THE IMPACT, said that he enjoyed himself during the cruise ride on water and enjoined residents to be part of the cruise on the next trip.

“New thing is happening in Ikorodu and this is a great innovation”, he said.

“They should just come around to enjoy themselves on the Olawunmi boat. After serious work, you need to relax and enjoy yourself. I enjoy being here today. It’s a great pleasure”.

Mr Oladimeji Olusegun Ogunfolaju ‘Omo Ola’, Chief Executive Officer, Lakers Hotel & Club, Ikorodu, was also part of the cruise.
